It’s hard to admit but even though I’ve been steadily writing for five days a week (not always getting to my 500 words a day goal), this novel [BOR] is getting away from me.
There’s so much that still has to happen, that I still have to write, and I’m already almost at 95K! I’m maybe in the middle of my novel right now, and the story – as I envisioned it – isn’t fit to be split into two halves. I can’t just turn this into a duology. So yeah, the word count will get a lot more bloated than I initially thought, and I don’t like it.
Of course, this is a first draft and while I’ll keep writing until I finally reach the end, I’m going to have to cut a lot and probably rewrite a lot as well. And that’s daunting to me: most of my first drafts have been “clean” and I’ve never had to do structural rewrites. I don’t even know if I can, to be honest. So that’s definitely going to be a challenge.
I hope I’m up for the task…
