Review: Lady of the Lake by Andrzej Sapkowski

Lady of the Lake is the last book in the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski. I’ve heard that there’s another book, Season of Storms, which will come out (translated in English) in 2018, but I think that one’s a short story collection.

Plot:

Ciri escaped the torturing arms of her pursuer, and fled into the Tower of Swallows. It transported her to a world of Elves, but not the Elves she knows. She is a prisoner, and they will only let her go if she agrees to do one thing. One terrible thing. Meanwhile Geralt is looking for Ciri back in their world with his companions, trying to save her from those who wish to harm her, or control her. Yennefer has been put in chains, and tortured, by people who want to get their hands on her surrogate daughter. And the Emperor of Nilfgaard too has his eye on the prize.

the-tower-of-the-swallow

This is the penultimate novel in The Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Plot:

Ciri is being hunted by several parties who all have their own agenda’s. Some want to capture her, some want to kill her, some merely want to hurt her until she breaks. Other want to rescue her, to protect her. But Ciri’s done being hunted; she’s done letting things happen to her. It’s time she took control of her own fate, her own destiny – even though she doesn’t quite know what that is yet. One thing is certain: the Tower of the Swallow beckons.

Geralt doesn’t know the truth, but he’s determined to save her. He’s joined by his best friend Dandelion and the huntress Milva. Others attach themselves to their small trio as they journey onwards

Time of Contempt is the second novel in The Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Plot:

Yennefer and Ciri are on their way to a school where Ciri can study in relative peace, but their trip quickly derails into something else entirely.  The Wild Hunt is after Ciri, Geralt is looking for Yennefer and Ciri, and there’s a convention for sorcerers and sorceresses that is taking place.  Alliances are made, people are betrayed, and those after Ciri draw closer and closer.

Blood of Elves is the first novel in The Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Plot:

The Kingdom of Cintra is attacked by the Empire of Nilfgaard. The Queen of Cintra commits suicide and her granddaughter Cirilla, also known as Ciri or “The Lion Cub of Cintra”, manages to flee the burning city to find solace with the witchers. Especially with one witcher in particular: Geralt of Rivia. But even though she’s now training to become a witcher, she’s not safe. Others are looking for her, and they all want to use her for their own ends, because inside her is the blood of elves.
